unesco and solar cookers international discussing project in zimbabwe

unesco has contacted solar cookers international (sci) about a pilot solar cooking project for rural residents of zimbabwe in 1996. although a final contract has not been signed, sci is negotiating details with unesco and is investigating sites and local partnership opportunities in zimbabwe. meanwhile unesco's technology director has been talking about solar cooking to a zimbabwe newspaper. we believe this project will be approved and begin very soon. we'll be able to help many more people become solar cooks, with unesco paying a share of the costs. moreover, unesco's dr. boris berkovski told the zimbabwe herald that the international organization is considering a multi-million-dollar project . . . with the idea of promoting the use of solar cookers on a national scale."
