solar seed bars

measure the ingredients:

use a cup of any size to measure the following ingredients into a dark pot that has been lightly greased:

2 parts sesame seeds
1 part flax seeds
1 part sunflower seeds
1 part cashews or pistachios or almonds
1/3 part honey

heat and mix

place the pot into a solar cooker for a short time, until the honey has melted and the seeds are warm. mix thoroughly with a spoon. since the amount of honey is so small, it may seem at first that you won't be able to coat all the seeds, but if you stir a bit you will.

form into bars

lightly grease the inside of the pot lid. form the seed mix into bars.

dry

place the the pot and the up-turned lid back in the solar oven for 2 - 3 hours. leave the top of the oven slightly ajar so that the moisture can evaporate away.

cool and serve

take the pot and the lid out of the solar oven and allow them to cool. use a spatula to loosen the bars. the bars are now ready to serve.

store

if you are going to store the bars for more than a few hours in moist climates, place them inside of a plastic bag or other airtight container.
