A few weeks ago, at a potluck for the local grassroots group that collects people's home garden extras and channels them to people who need them, I was chatting up a guy about suncooking, and it turned out that he works for the local paper and is friends with the reporter who does a weekly feature about local (and especially rural) people doing interesting things. Craig thought suncooking sounded very interesting (I also had my laptop running a slideshow of sun cookers and cooking at the party, with leaflets for people to take), so he talked to his friend, Devin, and Devin called on Friday to set up an interview!

So Monday, around 1pm, I'll be getting interviewed about my solar cooking activities. So far, it looks like at least 50% sun that day, which will make it one of the better ones of this whole month. I'm not sure if I'll be able to show them serious cooking temps, but hopefully they'll (he's bringing a photographer) at least be able to enjoy hot spiced sun-cider, and I'll have cookers hot enough to impress them considering how much cloud cover there is likely to be. I just got my hands on a HotPot cooker (my, it's so shiny!), so I started a batch of soup sprouts (black beans, red beans, wheat, and barley) and I'll have soup in the HotPot as part of the display for the press.... don't know if it'll quite boil (if not, I'll move it to a slow cooker when the sun drops), but if I've got at least 50% sun it will be steaming enough to impress them.

Wish me luck! I'm really excited about the opportunity. Smile

Regards,
